An important league match this afternoon against Monymusk at Lawsondale. Musk arrived at Westhill, level on points with us but holding a slightly better goal difference. We had 12 signed players unavailable however Webster agreed to strip as sub and Ellis kindly volunteered to Come to our game after the conclusion of the Aberdeen Rangers match at Pittodrie ! Kyle Jacques made a return and Roy Brown had been called up. Brown had to call for reinforcements in the shape of his bird and a pair of shears so that he could have his unbelievable toe claws amputated to allow him to get his boots on ! Trialist, Polishman Monty Goran did not make it in time for the kick off and so Marlow started, playing up front along side Jacques. Fisken was moved back into midfield and joined Mutch, R.Fulton and Brown in the engine room. Sct Marlow was in goal with Bews, G.Fulton, Young and Duncan forming the rearguard. We played into a strong wind and sun in the first half and straight away Mutch latched onto a ball to send it across the face of goal however it was just too deep and the Musk defence ushered it away for a goal kick. In 10 Fisken took a ball forward but weakly drove a shot past the post. In 12 Mutch sent a deep corner in but Halli had no one coming in at the back post. Duncan picked out Fisken with a throw in and his knock on was laid back to Brown by Marlow. The trialist sent a good ball forward which was chased down by Jacques who was just beaten to it be a defender. Musk attacked and their captain was lucky to escape a card when he produced a theatrical dive inside our box. In 20 Marlow tracked back to clear away for a corner which name sake Sct did well to clutch. In 24 Goran came on for Marlow with Fisken moving into attack. Sct Marlow picked up a childish booking when he refused to shut up and was booked for dissent. In 40 trialist Goran moved onto a loose ball but blazed over the bar (H.T. 0-0). After only 5 minutes of the second half a Halli goal blitz commenced. Young rising to bullet a corner kick home with his 4th goal in 3 games. Only 4 minutes later Fisken doubled our lead when he deftly clipped a low front post Goran corner into the net off the head of a defender who tried desperately to head clear off the line. In 58 we scored our 3rd in 8 minutes to kill off the visitors. This time Fisken curled in a beautiful free kick to give the keeper no chance. The visitors were by now reeling but managed to pull one back via the penalty spot in the 70th min. In 72 our 3 goal advantage was regained with Jacques superbly collecting and converting with a curling shot squeezed in at the keepers right hand post. Young decided on a forage forward but was rendered robotic as he made progress up the line. The big man went down in stages after his ankle was clipped. At the other end R.Fulton bravely put his head in where it hurt and cleared before the ref blew for dangerous play against his opponent. In 70 Ellis was introduced for Brown who had to be withdrawn due to a lack of toe nails ! In 78 Sct Marlow nicely picked out Fisken with a huge kick out and the striker galloped away from the full back to despatch a low ball beyond the advancing keeper as Halli went nap. Yet another great hat trick from Fisken and this did not go unnoticed by the watching Laing ! Halli kept pressing and Fisken selfishly fired high and wide with a number of team mates inside. In 80 Goran raced through onto a ball inside from Jacques but was unlucky to see his effort come back off the base of the post. Monymusk made a number of substitutions but could do nothing to halt the Halli juggernaut. The scoring was completed in the last minute of the match when Mutch worked his shin splints to get forward and stroke home his first ever competitive goal for the club. (F.T.6-1) A pretty conclusive win with Musk falling right out of things when they lost wind advantage. They quite simply could not live with the goal rush which saw us fire in 3 in 8 minutes. Hallitopman goes to Grant Fisken who must now really be favourite for Top Scorer this season. Well done to Jacques and Brown in their comeback games. A vital 3 points in this very competitive league which is dog eat dog at the minute this win saw us go 3rd in the league
